The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded $3.2 million to Stafford County to support local Head Start programs, Rep. Eugene Vindman announced earlier this week.

Head Start programs provide comprehensive early childhood education, nutrition, health, and family support services to children and families, helping prepare young learners for kindergarten and long-term academic success, Vindman’s office said.

“Every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow and succeed, regardless of their family’s income or zip code,” Vindman, a Democrat whose 7th District includes the Fredericksburg area, said in the announcement. “This $3.2 million investment in Stafford County’s Head Start programs will help ensure more children have access to high-quality early childhood education, nutritious meals, and the support services that strengthen families and improve long-term outcomes for our kids.”
