A historical panel has been unveiled in front of the Dorothy Hart Community Center in Fredericksburg to commemorate the Walker Grant High School class of 1950. The seniors of the all-Black school were initially denied use of the community center for their commencement because of their race. The city changed its stance but told the students and families they couldn’t use the front door. The students decided to peacefully protest and then held the ceremony at Shiloh Baptist Church (Old Site).
