Panel Conversation with Dr. Gaila Sims, Mr. Willie “Sonny” Holmes, Dr. Marceline Catlett, and Ms. Malvina Rollins Kay
Dr. Sims, Curator of African American History and Special Projects at the Fredericksburg Area Museum, will speak alongside Mr. Holmes, community historian, Ms. Rollins Kay, Vice-Chair of the School Board for Fredericksburg City Public Schools, and Dr. Catlett, Superintendent of Fredericksburg City Public Schools, on the life, work, and legacy of Dr. W.L. Harris. Owner of one of the largest hotels for Black travelers in Virginia, Dr. Harris was a longstanding member of the Fredericksburg NAACP, the Walker-Grant Parent-Teacher Association, and built affordable housing for local families in the historically Black Mayfield neighborhood.
