BISSELL Pet Foundation, a national animal welfare organization dedicated to ending pet homelessness, is bringing holiday hope to homeless pets by prompting a national call for adoption with its Empty the Shelters™ reduced-fee adoption event Dec. 1-17.  The Fredericksburg SPCA will participate along with more than 400 shelters in 45 states. To help deserving shelter pets find loving homes, BISSELL Pet Foundation sponsors reduced adoption fees during each nationwide event.

The Fredericksburg SPCA participating information:

  • The Fred SPCA will participate Dec. 1-17  at 10819 Courthouse Rd, offering $25 adoption fees for dogs and cats seven months and older.
  • The shelter is open Tuesday – Sunday 12 – 6 pm. Animals can go on a 7 day  ‘adoption trial’ before finalizing.
  • All interested adopters can find more details online at fredspca.org/adopt

“We are in desperate need, now more than ever before, for adopters and fosters. The majority of our population come as transfers from rural and municipal county shelters to alleviate euthanizing for kennel space.”, says Von Young, Director of Communications at the Fredericksburg SPCA. “When we don’t have space for animals to transfer in, other shelters and their population of animals suffer greatly. An adoption from the Fred SPCA saves more lives than the one you are adopting. We hope many families will find a new companion through the Empty the Shelters event!”

BISSELL Pet Foundation and the Fredericksburg SPCA urge families to research the pet they are interested in adopting, as well as adoption requirements. For more information on adopting or donating to Empty the Shelters, visit www.bissellpetfoundation.org/empty-the-shelters and fredspca.org.
