Join us at Journey Theatre in Vint Hill this November for the world premiere of “Voices from Vietnam”, a new stage play from Dr. Harry J. Kantrovich and Bruce H. “Doc” Norton.
Journey Theatre is proud to present the world premiere of “Voices From Vietnam”, a collection of interviews, stories, letter and reflections from Vietnam Veterans; Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines as well as the Nurses and Women who served, POWs, MIA families, a Vietnamese refugee, an Embassy statesman and college and school students. The show, and the book it inspired, was born out of a desire for playwright and authors Dr. Harry J. Kantrovich and Bruce H. “Doc” Norton to collect the stories of those who lived and experienced the Vietnam Conflict, whether in combat or on the home-front. This labor of love is also a belated “Welcome Home” to the service members who did not receive such a reception upon their return. Dr. Kantrovich remarks, “American soldiers returning home from Vietnam often faced scorn as the war they had fought in became increasingly unpopular. There were no ‘Welcome Home’ Parades for Vietnam Veterans. The public perception was, ‘You don’t have parades for soldiers coming home from a war they lost.’ What was lost on the American people was that these service members were only doing their duty to country. They didn’t want to be there. They didn’t run away and to them, the lives lost were not in vain. What I will ask of you is that when you meet a Vietnam Veteran, don’t say ‘Thank you for your service.’ They don’t want to hear that. When you meet that Vietnam Veteran, tell them what they never heard coming back, and it is what they desire to hear- ‘WELCOME HOME!’”
As Doc says: “Learn from those who were there, on the ground, in the air and on the water, and discover what life was for these extraordinary men and women, as they raise their “Voices From Vietnam.”
Copies of the book “Voices From Vietnam” will also be available for sale in the lobby: Hardcover $35 and Softcover $25.
