During the 2019 Virginia General Assembly Session, lawmakers voted to increase the minimum age to purchase tobacco, nicotine vapor and alternative nicotine products from 18 to 21 years old.
The course will be offered on 6/27- 6/28 from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The training is free and will be held at the Stafford Hospital. Must attend both days.

Suicide is the second leading cause of death for Americans ages 10-34 and the fourth leading cause of death for those ages 35-54. In the past few years, suicide rates have continued to climb. Rappahannock Area Community Services Board aims to prevent these deaths by educating the region on mental health challenges, resources, and ways to help.

VIDEO: Two senators are introducing bipartisan legislation to raise the federal smoking age to 21. Kentucky Republican Mitch McConnell and Virginia Democrat Tim Kaine both come from tobacco producing states. McConnell is also the Senate Majority Leader. The bill is aimed primarily at curbing teenage vaping.
