Spotsylvania School Superintendent Dr. Scott Baker has been named Region III Superintendent of the Year by other superintendents in the 17 school divisions located in north-central and the northern neck of Virginia.

UMW received eight new pianos this week through a partnership with Kawai America Corporation. They are on loan for a year. It’s been over a generation since the university last acquired new pianos in 1991.

UMW officials say their Giving Day on Tuesday was a record-breaker….

Thursday marks 111 years since the Virginia General Assembly passed legislation establishing the State Normal and Industrial School at Fredericksburg, now the University of Mary Washington.

VIDEO: Spotsylvania County students and employees will get an earlier start on spring break. The school board has made April 19th a holiday again. It had been made a school day because of lost days during the winter.
