The Sheriff’s Office 3rd annual scholarship program will be awarding (2) separate $500 scholarships to each of the (5) high schools within the county and (2) separate $500 scholarships to private high school programs to promote the education of Spotsylvania County students and give financial support to those attending a two or four-year college, a visual or performing arts school, or a vocational/technical school.

The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office is searching for the suspect behind a pursuit that occurred over the weekend following a traffic stop.

The Fredericksburg School Board approved expanding Lafayette Upper Elementary to help relieve overcrowding at Hugh Mercer Elementary. A report says that would allow the re-location of the second grade from Hugh Mercer to Lafayette. Work would begin July 1 and be completed for the 2020-2021 school year. School Board member Katie Pomeroy voted no.

Fredericksburg Police report the theft of a vehicle. It happened early Saturday morning in the 100 block of Farrell Lane. State Police released an educational video last week on this very situation

VDOT will have a mobile operation on Interstate 95 southbound in Caroline County this week to replace the reflective lens on the raised pavement markers.

The Polar Bear Plunge in Caroline County on Saturday at Lake Land’Or raised money for non-profits in the county.

Area 11 Special Olympic Athletes joined others from around the state on Saturday in the annual Polar Plunge in Virginia Beach. Special Olympics Virginia raised over one million dollars.
