On Monday, May 28, the National Park Service will join with the community in honoring the nation’s fallen soldiers at the annual commemorative ceremony at the Fredericksburg National Cemetery.
A local developer wants to build 110 townhouses on what is considered an historically significant site.
The property has sensitive environmental and historical features and characteristics, Zoning Administrator Mike Craig said.
The cemetery will be accessible from the north side entrance at Willis Hill during the estimated two weeks of repair work.

The National Park Service will host the 19th annual Fredericksburg National Cemetery Luminary on Saturday, May 24, 2014.
A luminary will be lit for each of the 15,300 soldiers buried there.
The Fredericksburg National Cemetery Luminary is open to the public 8 p.m. – 11 p.m. In the event of rain, the event will be held on Sunday, May 25.
