The City of Fredericksburg is accepting applications for three positions. They are Manager of Public Facilities, and Facilities Technician and Transit Driver.

Manager of Public Facilities

“This full time position plans and manages all logistical, financial and operational functions associated with the operation and maintenance of the City’s Public Facilities. The position directs the services of the Public Facilities Divisions through two subordinate supervisors who manage building maintenance and renovation functions. The position serves as project manager for remodeling and construction projects associated with the Division.

“Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field, a Master’s is a plus, supplemented by 6 – 9 years of experience managing operations, employees, and building and facility resources, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Excellent people skills and project management experience desired. Training in one or more building trades (electrical, HVAC, plumbing) is also a plus. Requires a valid driver’s license. Background check and driving record check required.”

Facilities Technician
Starting Salary Range: $32,538 – $39,723

“Under general supervision, this full time position performs skilled building maintenance work. The position is responsible for performing tasks requiring some physical strength and stamina in the carpentry, drywall, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fire safety systems, and other areas of general construction and maintenance. Successful candidate will have a vocational or technical degree with training emphasis in building construction trades supplemented by six (6) to nine (9) years previous experience and/or training that includes plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC and masonry, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides necessary knowledge, skills and abilities. Position requires a Virginia drivers’ license with an acceptable driving record, said records will be checked for all interviewed candidates. Position also requires Type I and II Refrigerant Transition and Recovery (CFC) certification. This position is considered “mission essential” for snow/ice removal operations. In addition, after hours on call duty is required. Background check and driving record check required.”

Transit Driver
Starting Salary Range: $15.64 an hour minimum.

“Under general supervision, this part time FREDericksburg Regional Transit driver position transports passengers throughout the City and the Counties of Caroline, Stafford and Spotsylvania. Work involves driving a transit bus on assigned routes, and ensuring the safe transport of passengers; monitoring passenger behavior while on the bus; and assisting passengers as needed. The driver will complete daily inspection of vehicle, fueling, cleaning, and checking to ensure safe operating condition. Performs related work as directed. Minimum requirements are High school graduation or equivalent; supplemented by bus driver training and experience driving a passenger vehicle; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Additional special requirements include: holding a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) or CDL Permit with the ability to acquire a CDL within three months, ability to pass a criminal record check and physical abilities testing; passing CPR, First Aide and Passenger assistance and safety tests; and must not have any felony or substance abuse conviction within the last 10 years or any history of child molestation/abuse or DWI convictions. Work hours may vary and may include weekends and/or evenings. Rigorous background checks including criminal history, driving records and previous employment verification will be performed. Employment is contingent upon passing post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and drug testing, and is subject to post-hiring random drug testing in accordance with Department of Transportation requirements.
