If you’re brave enough to endure the cold waters of the Rappahannock River in the height of winter, you’re invited to a good time for a good cause. The Wounded EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) Warrior Foundation’s Eighth Annual Polar Bear Plunge will take place in Fredericksburg on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015.

Participants and spectators will gather at Fredericksburg City Dock, 207 Sophia St. Registration ($50) and check-in begins at 9 a.m. and closes at 10:45 a.m.
The Costume Walk begins at 10:45 a.m. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes in the following categories:
– Best Male
– Best Female
– Best Group
– Most Patriotic (including EOD themed)
– Funniest
– Crowd Favorite
The plunge begins at 11 a.m.
Register online or at the dock the morning of the event. T-shirts will be given to online and same-day registrations on a first come-first serve basis, while supplies last.
The EOD Warrior Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit providing assistance to active duty and veteran EOD warriors who are wounded, injured or ill, and to families of wounded and fallen EOD warriors. The organization also maintains the EOD Memorial Wall at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.
