Final Phase of Rt. 17 Widening Underway

The Route 17 Widening Project in Stafford County is in the final phase of construction.

Crews have started paving the new travel lanes, turn lanes. and crossovers on Route 17 northbound and southbound from McLane Drive to Stafford Lakes Parkway.

This week, motorists should expect single lane closures in both directions and intermittent closures of the crossovers between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night through the morning of Friday, July 15, 2016. Work will resume at 9 p.m., Sunday, July 17, and continue each night through the morning of Friday, July 22.

The paving is expected to be complete in approximately two weeks, weather permitting.

The project to widen Route 17 from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway is expected to be complete by the end of July, weather permitting. For more information, visit www.Virginiadot.org and click on “Projects and Studies.”
