The pilot of a Montana Coyote small airplane died after a crash near Shannon Airport around 11:05 a.m. Tuesday morning.
The plane crashed on the property of Greenline Service Corp., a John Deere dealership on Tidewater Trail. Spotsylvania County Fire Department crews responded to the scene as did Virginia State Police.
The county’s sheriff’s office released a statement warning the public to use caution near the area because of the large presence of emergency personnel.
Only the pilot was onboard, according to a release from the Federal Aviation Administration. The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash, with the NTSB taking the lead and providing further updates.
