Fredericksburg Region Traffic Alerts July 31 – August 6

Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) work zones in Fredericksburg, Stafford, Spotsylvania, Caroline and King George for July 31 – August 6, 2016.

City of Fredericksburg
Fall Hill Avenue at Fall Hill Office Park Entrance
(New) Beginning Wednesday, August 3 the entrance to Fall Hill Office Park located on Fall Hill Avenue will be converted to right turns only for traffic entering and exiting the office park. Left turns will be prohibited at this intersection. This new permanent traffic pattern at the entrance to the Fall Hill Office Park is in connection with the Fall Hill Avenue Improvement Project.

Fall Hill Avenue
Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Fall Hill Avenue between Carl D. Silver Parkway and the Rappahannock Canal for construction activity. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Mary Washington Boulevard
Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Mary Washington Boulevard between Hospital Drive and Sam Perry Boulevard for construction activity. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Stafford County
95 Express Lanes (North of Exit 143/Garrisonville Road)
Construction is underway on the 95 Express Lane Extension Project. Motorists should expect to see crews working in the median. Work includes the installation of temporary concrete barriers along the northbound and southbound shoulders on I-95 and tree clearing. Drivers should expect reduced inside shoulders in both directions and should watch for slow-moving construction vehicles entering and exiting the travel lanes. Work requiring lane closures will be performed during off-peak travel times.

Route 17
(Update) Three through travel lanes on Route 17 northbound and southbound between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway are now open. Construction activities associated with the final phase of the Route 17 Widening Project will continue this week with minimal impact to traffic.

Route 610 (Garrisonville Road)
Monday – Thursday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. One lane will be closed intermittently on Route 610 eastbound and westbound at Onville Road. Motorists may periodically encounter brief delays during the overnight hours in this work zone. Crews are placing sewer lines in connection with the Route 610/Onville Road intersection improvement project.

Routine Maintenance
Monday – Thursday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 6 a.m. – noon. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will be performing routine maintenance activities in the following locations:
Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway) – shoulder repair, mowing
Route 218 (White Oak Road) – mowing
Route 752 (Richards Ferry Road) – shoulder repair
Route 607 (Cool Springs Road) – mowing
Route 603 (Caisson Road) – ditch work
Route 628 (Eskimo Hill Road) – boom axe
Route 603 (Newton Road) – patching
Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) – asphalt repair
Route 627 (Mountain View Road) – maintenance activities
Route 603 (Newton Road) – patching
Route 644 (Rock Hill Church Road) – mowing
Route 687 (Hope Road) – shoulder repair

Spotsylvania County
Interstate 95
(New) Monday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Crews will inspect the I-95 bridge over Route 1 at mile marker 126 located at Exit 126 (Route 1/Spotsylvania). A single lane closure will be in place on I-95 southbound from 9 a.m. until noon followed by a single lane closure on I-95 northbound from noon until 3 p.m.

Route 627 (Gordon Road)
(New) Tuesday – Thursday, 7 p.m. – 5 a.m. Crews will be milling on Route 627 (Gordon Road) from
Route 628 (Smith Station Road) to just north of Route 674 (Chancellor Road). Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures and a rough driving surface in the work zone.

Route 628 (Smith Station Road)
Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Motorists should expect lane closures and delays on Route 628 southbound between the CVS entrance and Courtland High School. Flaggers will be directing traffic in the work zone. This work is in connection with the Route 628 (Smith Station Road) Turn Lanes and Signal Modification Project.

Harrison Road
Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent flagging and single lane closures on Route 620 (Harrison Road) for tree removal. Motorists may periodically encounter brief delays in the overnight hours in this work zone. This work is in connection with the Route 1 and Harrison Road Intersection Improvement Project.

Routine Maintenance
Monday – Thursday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 6 a.m. – noon. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will be performing routine maintenance activities in the following locations:
Route 3 (Plank Road) – mowing
Route 17 (Mills Drive) – boom axe
Route 208 (Courthouse Road) – mowing
Route 601 (Lawyers Road) – boom axe
Route 649 (Seays Road) – boom axe
Route 656 (Towles Mill Road) – maintenance activities
Route 625 (Ashby Drive) – asphalt repairs
Route 2291 (Spring Creek Subdivision) – asphalt repairs

Caroline County
Route 1
(New) Monday – Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will install raised pavement markers on Route 1 northbound and southbound from the Hanover County line to just south of Route 207. Motorists should expect brief delays in this mobile work zone.

Route 17
(New) Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will perform trench work on Route 17 northbound and southbound from just north of Route 301 to just south of Route 675 (Hazelwood Lane). Motorists should expect alternating lane closures in the work zone.

Routine Maintenance
Monday – Thursday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 6 a.m. – noon. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will be performing routine maintenance activities in the following locations:
Route 301 (Richmond Turnpike) – shoulder repair
Route 301 (A.P. Hill Blvd.) – patching
Route 721 (Sparta Road) – mowing
Route 601 (Mount Vernon Road) Northbound – patching
Route 647 (Doggett’s Road) – patching
Route 721 (Newton Road) – mowing
Route 663 (Shumans Road) – patching
Route 648 (Sunshine Road) – patching
Route 722 (Nelson Hill Road) – brush cutting
Route 671 (Chilesburg Road) – mowing
Route 622 (Durrette Road) – pipe replacement
Route 669 (Sizer Road) – mowing.

Caroline County/King George County
Route 301 at Rappahannock River
(Update) On Wednesday crews will pour concrete in connection with the substructure repair on the Route 301 bridge over the Rappahannock River. Motorists will be restricted to one lane on the bridge and at the bridge approaches from 7 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. This work is in connection with the Route 301 Bridge Rehabilitation Project.

King George County
Route 3
(Update) Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will be milling and paving on Route 3 eastbound from the Stafford County line to just east of Route 665. Motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone.
