More than 60 downtown Fredericksburg businesses are participating in the “Scarecrows are Coming” competition.

The businesses, listed below, have displayed a scarecrow in one of four categories: spookiest, funniest, best business theme, and historic.

Ballots with a map are available at the Fredericksburg Visitor Center, 706 Caroline St., and at participating businesses. Ballots may also be downloaded from the ScarecrowFest page.

Pick up a ballot map to help you find all the scarecrows, then vote for your favorite. Vote via the paper ballot, or online at Scarecrows 2016 Ballot. Scarecrow winners will be chosen in each of the four categories. Trophies will be presented to the winners at the Rappahannock Rotary Club meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 9.

In addition, a pinwheel has been placed on three scarecrow displays. Those displays include questions on the ballot, and the contestants who correctly answer the questions at all three locations on the official ballot will be entered into a drawing to win one of three $100 downtown gift cards. Winners will be announced at 3 p.m. on November 4, and posted on the Fredericksburg Main Street website.

Ballots are due by October 31 to any location with a ballot box.

Participation in the contest is free. Share your pictures on social media with the hashtag #fxbgscarecrows
