Acclaimed Guitar Duo Julian Lage and Chris Eldridge Performing in Fredericksburg

The progressive folk, bluegrass, and jazz guitar duo of Julian Lage and Chris Eldridge will perform in Fredericksburg on Saturday, March 4, 2017. The show is being hosted by ArtsLive!, formerly Fredericksburg Festival for the Performing Arts.

Lage was a child prodigy, recognized for his musical ability in the 1996 Oscar nominated short documentary “Jules at Eight.” At age 13, he performed at the 2000 Grammy Awards. He was classically trained at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. His debut album “Sounding Point” was nominated for the 2010 Grammy for Best Contemporary Jazz Album.

Eldridge, an Oberlin Conservatory graduate, studied with bluegrass guitar legend Tony Rice. He joined bluegrass band The Seldom Scene, with whom he received a 2007 Grammy nomination for their CD “Scenechronized.” He’s a founding member of the band Punch Brothers.

Lage and Eldridge first met after a Punch Brothers concert in Boston, according to the duo’s website.

They released their extended play (EP) recording “Close to Picture” in 2013, followed by 2014’s full-length release “Avalon.”

“Mount Royal,” their second full-length album, will be released February 24, 2017.

Their March 4 concert in Fredericksburg will be held at Gari Melchers Home and Studio at Belmont, 224 Washington St., Fredericksburg.

Early admission tickets cost $55, and include the Artist Talk Back presentation by Lage and Eldridge. Also included are premium seating, hors d’oeuvres, and one free cash bar ticket. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

The $35 general admission tickets include light hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for general admission. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m.

The 90-minute set will be followed by open gallery time at the museum until 10 p.m.
