The Caroline Sheriff’s Office has received reports of a Social Security scam. Citizens are receiving calls from a person claiming to be with the Social Security Administration, and the person is asking citizens to confirm their banking information in order to continue receiving Social Security benefits.
The Caroline Sheriff’s Office has been made aware of two phone numbers in relation to this scam. These numbers are (720) 603-0886 and (332) 228-4834. Please do not answer any calls from these numbers. The Caroline Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating the origin of these scam calls.
The Social Security Administration will NOT call you requesting your banking information. If anyone receives a call from anyone claiming to be with the Social Security Administration, and suspects the person is not legitimate, hang up and call the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213, or visit, https://www.ssa.gov/agency/contact/.
