Stafford County will hold two public meetings in the next few days to gather community input on an update to the Comprehensive Plan, which serves as a blueprint for development in the locality.
Virginia law requires counties to review their Comprehensive Plans at least once every five years. Stafford’s current plan, last updated in 2021, is being revised to reflect the needs and priorities of today’s residents and future generations, the county’s government said in announcing the meetings.
County officials rely on the Comprehensive Plan when evaluating new development proposals, making public input essential to ensuring decisions reflect the community’s vision, the announcement said.
The first meeting will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday in Room A of the Courthouse Community Center, 29 Stafford Ave., Stafford, VA 22554.
A second meeting will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Monday in the cafeteria of Stafford High School, 63 Stafford Indians Lane, Fredericksburg, VA 22405.
Results from a previously-conducted public survey will be announced at the meetings.
Public participation is critical to building a Comprehensive Plan that reflects the values and needs of the entire community, the announcement stated. These gatherings are additional opportunities for input beyond the survey.
Work on the Comprehensive Plan is expected to be finished by year’s end.
