The Caroline Sheriff’s Office says between February 17th and March 26th there were nighttime burglaries of the Valero gas station in Carmel Church, the Moose Lodge in Carmel Church, and a residence in the Town of Bowling Green. Items reported stolen from these incidents included cash money, televisions, hand tools, and cigarettes.
Based upon video surveillance and information from citizens, Investigators quickly developed a suspect vehicle and began the process of identifying suspects. After many hours of surveillance, technological investigation, forensics investigation, and the assistance of many citizens, investigators obtained evidence connecting 42 year-old Marcus Hopkins, of Spotsylvania, 35 year-old Jessica Thomas, of Fredericksburg, and 43 year-old Shaun Sullivan, of Ashland, to these burglaries.
On April 3, with the assistance of the Richmond City Police Department, Hopkins and Thomas were found and arrested for several counts of conspiracy to commit burglary, burglary, and grand larceny. Additional forensic evidence was obtained following their arrests. On April 5, 2023, with the assistance of the Ashland Police Department and the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, Sullivan was found and arrested for several counts of conspiracy to commit burglary, burglary, and grand larceny. All 3 suspects are currently being held without bond at the Pamunkey Regional Jail.
Sheriff Scott Moser said “Yet again, community involvement and hard work by investigators solved this case. I am so thankful the consistent willingness of our citizens to provide information and assist the CCSO with solving crimes. The CCSO cannot function effectively without community involvement and partnership, and I am very thankful and proud of that partnership.”
