From the Town of Colonial Beach:
The Town of Colonial Beach Friday afternoon received the water quality results from the sewage spill that occurred at the Town’s wastewater treatment plant near Goldman Creek. The Virginia Department of Health and Environmental Quality in partnership with Charles County, MD – Department of Health have conducted through testing of the waterways in and around Colonial Beach and the results deemed that the water is either at or below normal levels for recreational use.
As previously stated, the closure of our waterways and beach access occurred as a precautionary measure by our environmental partners. The Town of Colonial Beach waterways and beach access will reopen around 6PM on Friday, July 7th for recreational use.
