Prince William Police say on Aug. 27, a #PWCPD officer was driving a marked police SUV when their cruiser impacted a pickup truck in area of the PW Pkwy & Wellington Rd just before 1:30 am.
The officer was traveling on the PW Pkwy with a green signal to proceed through the intersection. The other driver ran their red signal on Wellington and entered the intersection, crossing in front of the officer’s vehicle. The officer, traveling at speed for the Parkway, had seconds to react and attempted to avoid the collision; however, the front of the cruiser impacted the back panel of the pickup.
The impact and subsequent maneuvering post-crash caused the police SUV to overturn. The other driver was arrested for DUI. Only minor injuries were reported.
