Scam alert in Orange County

by | Apr 9, 2024 | Police and Fire, Ted Schubel

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office says there is a current phone scam, where Orange residents are receiving calls, claiming they have missed jury duty.
These individuals are identifying themselves as a Deputy or a Police Officer and are demanding payment to avoid being arrested.
Orange Sheriff Jason Smith says law Enforcement will never call you and request money, gift cards, Bitcoin, or any other form of payment. He says do not send them any money in any form or provide them with any personal or financial information.
Smith says, “simply hang up the phone.”
