A vehicle allegedly stolen from the Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center parking lot Wednesday morning ended up in the Ni River.

Spotsylvania County deputies were dispatched to the area of Hickory Ridge Road and Patriot Highway at 7:50 a.m. to respond to a motor vehicle crash.

They found a 2007 Ford work truck that was traveling southbound on Patriot Highway before the driver lost control and landed in the river.

Deputies quickly learned that the driver was not the owner of the vehicle, and he allegedly stole it moments before the crash.

Keith Lee Brinkley, 42, of Caroline County, received minor injuries from the accident. He was arrested on charges of grand larceny auto, reckless driving and driving on a revoked license (ninth offense). Brinkley is being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.
