Sgt. C. Paris with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office collected more than 158 pounds of unwanted and expired medications during Saturday’s DEA National Drug Take Back Day event at the Lake of the Woods Clubhouse. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., residents dropped off prescriptions for safe and proper disposal, filling six large trash bags by day’s end.
The initiative helps prevent misuse and protects the environment by keeping medications out of homes and waterways. A year-round drug take-back box is also available at the Public Safety Building during normal business hours.
