Brock Brimhall threw for three touchdowns and ran for another as the Colonial Forge High School football team cruised past visiting Gar-Field 35-0 in the opening round of the Region 6B playoffs on Friday night.
Brimhall completed 11 of 16 passes for 162 yards. He connected with TaySean Jones on scoring strikes of 23 and 3 yards and hooked up with Jeremiah Wise for a 16-yard touchdown as well.
Jaylen Carter got the top-seeded Eagles (10-1) on the board with a 2-yard scoring run in the first quarter. He finished with a game-high 75 yards rushing on just seven carries.
Brimhall chipped in 57 yards on 11 attempts and found the end zone on a 1-yard plunge that gave Forge a 28-0 advantage in the third quarter.
The No. 8 seed Red Wolves (6-5) were unable to get untracked offensively, as the Eagles’ defense held them to just 185 yards of total offense. Jones and Jeremiah Schneider recorded one interception each.
Colonial Forge will play host to fourth-seeded Woodbridge (10-1) in the regional semifinals next Friday. The Vikings defeated No. 5 Patriot 41-21 on Friday night and have won seven straight games since a 42-35 loss to North Stafford on Sept. 19.
North Stafford 52, Independence 14
Chase Sullivan threw five touchdown passes, and the host Wolverines’ defense returned a pair of interceptions for scores in a Region 6B quarterfinal victory.
Sullivan had four touchdown passes through three quarters as third-seeded North (8-3) led 26-7. He threw another in the final period, while Kenaz Sullivan and King Antoine each had an interception return for a score to blow the contest completely open.
The Wolverines picked off four of the No. 6 seed Wildcats’ passes on the night.
North Stafford will travel to play at second-seeded Battlefield (10-1) in next Friday’s regional semifinals. It will be a rematch of the season opener for both squads, which Battlefield won 14-13 on Aug. 28 thanks to a touchdown pass at the buzzer.
Brentsville 48, James Monroe 12
The fourth-seeded Yellow Jackets saw their season end at the hands of the No. 5 Tigers in the first round of the Region 3B playoffs.
Ryan Wolfenbarger threw two touchdown passes to Jakhi Hayden, the lone bright spots for homestanding James Monroe (5-6).
Wolfenbarger went 10-of-17 passing for 158 yards on the night, and Hayden finished with 93 yards receiving on six catches.
Brentsville (5-6) racked up 476 yards of total offense. Sawyer Beckman rushed for 105 yards and a pair of scores on 13 carries, while Sam Richards completed 5 of 8 passes for 147 yards and two touchdowns.
Louisa 42, Caroline 7
The visiting Cavaliers hung tough for a half in the Region 4B quarterfinals before the Lions pulled away down the stretch.
Seventh-seeded Caroline (8-3) scored on a 30-yard pass from Blake Morris to brother Blair Morris, which tied the score at 7 near the end of the first quarter. But No. 2 Louisa (11-0) responded with a 17-yard scoring scamper by Trell Creasy to go ahead 14-7 before intermission.
The Lions’ Savion Hiter, a Michigan commit who is considered the top running back in the country by multiple recruiting services including Rivals/On3, ran for three of his four touchdowns on the ground in the second half to help the home team pull away.
Hiter finished with 153 yards on 23 carries, and Creasy had 117 yards on five attempts. Louisa hosts Huguenot in the region semifinals on Saturday at 1 p.m.
