Stafford County’s Board of Supervisors will host a public listening session later this month on Dominion Energy’s proposed North Anna-Kraken Loop electric transmission project.

The meeting will be Jan. 29 at 6:30 p.m. at Brooke Point High School (1700 Courthouse Road, Stafford, VA 22554).

The session is designed to provide residents with clear information on the regulatory process and to hear directly from the community about concerns related to the project’s potential impacts in Stafford, the county’s government said Thursday in announcing the meeting.

The evening will begin with a presentation in the school auditorium. The presentation will be given twice to allow the public flexibility in attending, first at 6:30 and again at 8 p.m.

After the presentation, residents are invited to visit interactive stations in the cafeteria, organized by the proposed transmission-line segments within Stafford, the announcement said.

Large-scale maps will be on display to help the public identify areas of interest and understand how the proposed project may affect their communities. While the overall project includes seven segments, the focus of the session will be on the five segments in Stafford. At each station, county representatives will collect public feedback. This input will be documented and used to inform future county strategies and communications related to the project.

Dominion Energy representatives will not be present at the meeting, the announcement said, but the county looks forward to continuing to work with the utility company to ensure the project minimizes adverse impacts to Stafford residents as much as possible.

Dominion will continue to hold its own separate community meetings as part of its project outreach efforts, the county government said.

Scheduling the Jan. 29 meeting is one of the latest steps county supervisors have taken regarding the project. They have been critical of the proposal as it’s currently designed.
