The Fredericksburg Office of Voter Registration and Elections announced early-voting information for an April 21 special election to vote on a proposed constitutional amendment to allow the General Assembly to redraw congressional districts for the U.S. House of Representatives.
Voters will vote “Yes” or “No” on the following question:
“Question: Should the Constitution of Virginia be amended to allow the General Assembly to temporarily adopt new congressional districts to restore fairness in the upcoming elections, while ensuring Virginia’s standard redistricting process resumes for all future redistricting after the 2030 census?”
Early voting for the April 21 Special Election begins March 6 at FXBG City Center (601 Caroline Street) on the 5th floor. Early Voting will be available from March 6-April 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with two Saturday Voting sessions on April 11 and April 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The last day to register or make changes to your voter registration is April 14, 2026. The last day to request an absentee by mail ballot is April 10, 2026. Absentee Ballots by Mail must be postmarked by April 21, 2026, and received by Friday April 24, 2026.
The ballot dropbox will be available beginning March 10. Ballots may be returned either in the 24 -hour drop box located in the rear of FXBG City Center or in the Registrar’s Office during regular business hours. Drop boxes will also be available at all polling locations on Election Day during polling hours. All drop boxes will close at 7 p.m. on April 21, 2026.
