The sentencing of a Spotsylvania County teen involved in a shootout in the Olde Greenwich neighborhood last April was delayed Tuesday morning because of a power outage at the courthouse, Spotsylvania Commonwealth’s Attorney Ryan Mehaffey said.
Christopher Moore pleaded guilty in December to unlawful assembly with a firearm.
While his new sentencing date is unclear, co-defendant Jeremiah Upson of Ruther Glen was sentenced to 25 years in prison Friday after convictions for second-degree felony murder, paramilitary activity, and selling a handgun to a minor.
Spotsylvania Commonwealth’s Attorney Ryan Mehaffey said Upson’s sentence slightly exceeded the high end of the sentencing guidelines. Mehaffey noted that Upson pleaded guilty and “credibly expressed remorse for his conduct” at sentencing.
Upson was the first of the five co-defendants to be sentenced in the incident that left three young men dead.
The prosecution presented evidence during Upson’s trial that he ran to safety between townhomes in the neighborhood, which sits off of Lafayette Boulevard at the Spotsylvania and Fredericksburg border, and repeatedly fired an AR-style rifle from his position.
Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office Detective T.J. Medina and Chief Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Jeff Adams presented the prosecution’s evidence during sentencing.
Co-defendant Logan Soulier, who was convicted of 24 charges, including second-degree felony murder, three counts of aggravated malicious wounding, four counts of abduction and 10 firearms charges, will be sentenced March 30. Soulier was acquitted of two first-degree murder charges.
Kimori Snead and Darius Fitz, who pleaded guilty to various charges, will be sentenced April 6 and April 16, respectively.
Sincere Fitz, 19, Alonzo Goffney, 18, and Chase Feaster, 18, died in the shootout. Feaster was killed by a neighbor who witnessed the incident. That neighbor was not charged. Darius Fitz was wounded by a shot in the arm. Moore survived shots to the face and chest.
According to evidence, Goffney, Moore, and Darius and Sincere Fitz were prepared to illegally purchase a firearm from Soulier, Upson, and Feaster.
The incident shook the region as two Fredericksburg schools were placed on lockdown. A chilling video on social media showed two males with their faces covered walking through the 500 block of Olde Greenwich Circle, wielding rifles.
