Spokeswoman Shannon Doherty says the wildflowers typically last only a couple of weeks and flourish in the forest’s damp, flood-prone lowlands.
The site is open daily from dawn to dusk, with parking at the Visitor Center. Free guided walks led by the Central Rappahannock chapter of the Virginia Master Naturalists are scheduled for April 4, 11 and 18. Registration at Historic Germanna’s event calendar at germanna.org.
