Spotsylvania-based Leashes of Valor continues its mission of pairing rescue dogs with veterans who need support, companionship and hope.
At a fundraiser Saturday night in Spotsylvania, Jason Haag and Chris Bowers talked about the life-changing impact of the program. “One leash saves two lives.” Rescue dogs get a second chance while veterans receive highly trained service dogs that can help interrupt panic attacks, provide comfort and restore confidence and independence.
Jason Haag says none of the veterans who has received one of its dogs has died by suicide. Training just one service dog costs over $25,000. He says they depend on donations and fosters to continue providing the dogs at no cost to veterans. More information is available at leashesofvalor.org
