Stafford County Public Schools recently hosted its annual Years of Service ceremony to honor and recognize the dedication and commitment of its staff members. Held at Mountain View High School, the ceremony celebrated employees reaching milestones of five-year increments of service with the school district.

The evening highlighted the commitment of teachers, support staff, administrators, and employees from every department who have devoted years of service to Stafford students, families, and schools.

“The longevity and dedication of our employees reflect the strong relationships and sense of purpose that define Stafford Schools,” Stafford School Board Chair Elizabeth Warner said in a press release. “Our staff members are deeply committed to one another and to the success of every student, and that commitment continues to make Stafford an exceptional community.”

More than 700 honorees were recognized for their years of service, ranging from five to 60 years, symbolizing their dedication to ensuring each student is “Prepared to Excel.”

Jimmy Andrews of Stafford High School was recognized as the most tenured educator, serving Stafford Schools for 60 years. Andrews joined Stafford Schools in 1966 and has taught in the English Department at Stafford High School during his entire tenure.

He graduated from James Monroe High School and received both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from the University of Richmond. In addition to teaching at Stafford High School, Andrews has also served as an adjunct faculty member at Germanna Community College.

Superintendent Daniel W. Smith concluded the event with remarks, expressing gratitude to all attendees and emphasizing the collective impact of their efforts on the school community.

He commended the honorees for their unwavering commitment to students and their dedication to excellence in education.

“Our employees are the heart of Stafford Schools, and this ceremony is an opportunity to celebrate the dedication, passion, and care they bring to our students every single day,” Smith said. “Recognizing more than 700 honorees this year reflects the strength of our division and the incredible people who choose to make Stafford Schools their professional home.”
