The French national holiday commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison on July 14, 1789, the event that launched the French Revolution and helped bring an end to the absolute monarchy.
Fredericksburg has shared a sister-city relationship with Fréjus, France, for 45 years, and a group of French students is currently visiting the region as part of a student exchange.
