Members last week announced the official chartering of the Epsilon Alpha Rho Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. in Stafford County.
Founded on Jan. 16, 1920, on the campus of Howard University in Washington, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. is a historically Black Greek-lettered sorority. It was created by five women who envisioned a sorority rooted in scholarship, service, sisterhood and finer womanhood.
For more than a century, Zeta Phi Beta has sought to uplift communities across the globe through meaningful initiatives and partnerships while being a community-conscious, action-oriented organization.
The Epsilon Alpha Rho Zeta Chapter aims to carry forward that legacy by engaging in service projects and outreach efforts that address the unique needs of Stafford County. The chapter is excited to collaborate with local organizations, civic leaders and residents to support initiatives around education, maternal and child health, youth development, and more.
“We are honored to bring the work of Zeta Phi Beta to Stafford County,” the chapter’s charter members said in a statement announcing the group’s beginning. “Our mission is to serve with purpose, compassion and excellence, and we look forward to building a strong presence that enriches our local community.”
The women of Epsilon Alpha Rho Zeta are committed to creating lasting impact through advocacy, education, and hands-on service and are ready to forge partnerships that empower and uplift.
Zeta Phi Beta has a rich legacy of promoting academic excellence, providing scholarships, supporting social causes, and improving the health and welfare of women, children, and families, the Stafford members said. Zeta is a member of the National Pan-Hellenic Council and operates chapters across the United States, Africa, Europe and Asia.
