Marine Corps Base Quantico will operate on Code Blue status Tuesday, opening at noon due to heightened security for a meeting of senior military leaders. Only essential personnel will be permitted on base prior to noon, and base officials are urging the public to avoid unnecessary or unofficial travel during that time.
While local authorities say there are no planned road closures along U.S. Route 1, motorists may experience delays near the base, particularly during the morning commute. Prince William County police say they expect any impacts to remain contained to the base.
The National Museum of the Marine Corps in Triangle will also delay its opening to noon in response to the security measures.
