Thomas Watson Britt peacefully left this world to be with his Lord and Savior on December 30, 2025, at the age of 83.
Tom was born in Henderson, NC, on November 25, 1942, and his parents were Bloys and Mozelle Britt. He spent over 30 years on active duty in the U.S. Army, where he was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He retired at the rank of Colonel in 1996.
Tom moved to Fredericksburg, Va., in 1999 and in 2006 became an ordained pastor and counselor at Chancellor Christian Church in Spotsylvania, Va. He led numerous teams devoted to the spiritual development of church members and remained a dedicated pastor to the church congregation until shortly before his passing, frequently helping church members in need.
Tom was previously married to Betty Britt for 33 years before her passing on November 20, 1998. He married Judy Britt on July 15, 2000, and lived with her in Fredericksburg until his passing. Tom and Judy were a team during their entire marriage, frequently working together with their church and volunteering at the homeless shelter. Tom was a committed follower of Jesus Christ for his entire life. He was also a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather to his entire family, who adored him. He loved spending time with his family and scheduled many trips and vacations to be with them.
Tom leaves behind his beloved wife Judy; sons Thomas Jr. (Renea) and Richard (Diane); his daughter-in-law Michele Rose (Todd); his grandchildren, Jacqueline Britt, Morgan Britt, Samuel Britt (Mackenzie), Jordan Britt, Noah Britt, Nikala White (Hunter), Alaina Siggers (John), Amber Horton, and Joey Horton; his great-grandchildren, Reign Arencibia, Barrett Siggers, and Lilian Siggers; and his sister, Laura Flippin (Wayne).
Tom will be buried with full military honors at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 9, 2026, in Culpeper National Cemetery, 501 East Chandler Street, Culpeper, Va.
