Michael Anthony Drone, 42, of Spotsylvania County, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 19, 2026. Michael was born April 7, 1983, in Charlottesville, Virginia.
Michael’s pride and joy, and greatest love was his daughter, Kiearra. He had a great love for the outdoors, nature and animals. He enjoyed working outdoors, doing landscaping and tree work. Michael loved the beach, the mountains, fishing, boating and jet skiing. He loved to sing and had a passion for karaoke. He had a different karaoke venue for most every night of the week.
Michael never met a stranger. From an early age he made friends everywhere he went, whether it be the grocery store, a camping trip, or a beach vacation.
Michael is survived by his daughter, Kiearra Drone (her mom, Shirika Richardson), his mom and stepdad, Cheryl Henry and Fabian; his dad and stepmom, Glenn Drone and Tiffany; his father, Brian Goodwin, his girlfriend, Morgan Swift (Laney and Bailey); his special friend, Miss Anne Richards (Dog, Lucky), his beloved dogs, Creature and Sparrow; his brothers, Luke Goodwin, and Brandon Drone (Caroline); his sisters, Jennifer Drone (Ricky), and Savana Drone; his nephews, Rakim Greer (Cierra), Ricky Ware, Tyren Ware, and Dawson Drone; his nieces, Briana Greer, Aubrey Drone, and Ryleigh Drone; his grandmothers, June “Mamaw” Henson, and Emma “Nanan” Drone; uncles, Thomas Goodwin (Beth), and Donnie Drone (Patsy); and many cousins, extended family and loved ones.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandmother, Joy Goodwin; grandfathers, Thomas Goodwin, Grahame Henson, and Frank Drone; and an uncle, Ricky Drone.
He was loved by everyone he met and had many friends. He left an impact on everyone that knew him and his smile and presence lit up any room he walked into. Michael had a special place in his heart for the homeless and would never pass a homeless person on a street corner without giving them money or even the shirt or coat off his own back. He was so loved by so many and he will be greatly missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing and loving him. Michael has left a void in this world that can never be filled.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at Found and Sons Funeral Chapel, 10719 Courthouse Rd., Fredericksburg, with his dad, Pastor Glenn Drone officiating. A celebration of life gathering will be held from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Brightwood Ruritan Club, 4689 Lillards Ford Rd, Brightwood, VA 22715.
