In celebration of Older Americans Month, the Fredericksburg Visitor Center will showcase a special photo exhibition created by Healthy Generations Area Agency on Aging throughout the month of May.
This meaningful exhibit features a collection of photographs honoring older adults who enrich and strengthen the Fredericksburg community, pairing powerful imagery with their own words of advice and inspiration.
An opening reception will be held on Friday, May 1, from 5-7 p.m. at the Fredericksburg Visitor Center. Guests are invited to meet members of the community, enjoy light refreshments, and be among the first to view the exhibit. The Visitor Center will remain open until 8 p.m. that evening as part of First Friday.
“This exhibit is a wonderful opportunity to recognize the individuals who have helped shape our community,” said Patricia Holland, executive director of Healthy Generations. “Our goal was to create lasting memories for our seniors, and thanks to Rae Moriarty, then owner of Hartwood Photography, who embraced this project with all her talent and heart, their portraits came alive with dignity and warmth. These images honor the wisdom our seniors share and now offer a steady source of inspiration throughout our office.”
The exhibition will be on display throughout the month of May and can be viewed during regular visitor center hours, daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Fredericksburg Visitor Center is located at 601 Caroline Street in downtown Fredericksburg. Admission is free and open to the public.
