Caroline’s Promise will host its annual school supply drive on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at Caroline High School. This is the eighth year of the event, which began in 2019. This is the fourth straight year it will be held at CHS, located at 19155 Rogers Clark Boulevard in Milford.
Typically, Caroline’s Promise Executive Director Shermeka Baker-Latney partners with more than 60 businesses, churches, and civic organizations to conduct the free drive for the county’s students. Long lines are expected as more than 1,300 students regularly attend the community event where they pick up a donated backpack and visit tables with various supplies to help them start the school year.
On Sunday, local non-profit Unmasked, Inc. will host a “Fill the Truck” event from 3-7 p.m. at Orleans Bistro restaurant in Spotsylvania County, located at 5442 Southpoint Plaza Way. Volunteers will be on hand to take in donations of school supplies. The event will feature music from DJ Manny. It is sponsored by Orleans Bistro, the Rotary Club of North Stafford, Dirty Paws Dogwash, Dancing with Regina, Z’s Southern Kitchen, and X-clusive Reflections salon.
On July 31 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., The Fredericksburg Sheriff’s Office and the Fredericksburg Police Department will collect school supplies for local schools during a “Stuff the Bus” event at Walmart in Central Park, located at 1800 Carl D. Silver Parkway.
