The Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office says late Sunday night they investigated a shooting in the 10100 block of Patriot Hwy for a reported shooting. Deputies arrived and found that a dispute had occurred in the parking lot of a local business between known acquaintances. The suspect reportedly assaulted a female and then brandished a firearm during the incident firing several shots. One of the rounds struck the victims vehicle. No injuries were reported in the shooting.
The suspect left the area and a lookout was given to Deputies. Deputy C. Munsee spotted the suspect vehicle in the area of Plank Road and Corter Ave. The suspect was arrested without incident by Deputies. 22-year old Kyla Monesia Smith was arrested for reckless handle of a firearm, assault and battery and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. Smith was taken before the Magistrate an incarcerated under no bond at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.
