Wild & Scenic Film Festival will make a stop in Fredericksburg, thanks to the Friends of the Rappahannock.
The festival will be held Saturday, March 29, at Paragon Village 12, 51 Towne Centre Blvd., Fredericksburg.  Doors open at 8 a.m.  The films begin at 8:50 a.m.  Tickets are $10 at the door.

Brian Lam’s Skin+Touch Therapy has a new home in downtown Fredericksburg.
“I’m mainly known for massage and doing therapeutic work, so a lot of people came to me with neck injuries, migraines, fibromyalgia,” Lam said.  He had a small studio on Princess Anne Street, which he shared with another massage therapist. “We outgrew our space,” Lam said.

It was the combination of the manicured landscaping, the steel gray exterior and the red front door that caught my eye in the College Terrace neighborhood, making 801 Mortimer Ave. my choice for this installment of “Drive By Gem.”
Originally built in 1929, the 2,340 square-foot home has four bedrooms and two bathrooms.  The kitchen and second bathroom — which includes a  six-foot claw foot tub — have been updated.   The attic is finished, but not the basement.

Rappahannock Area Health District (RAHD) officials inspected food preparation and storage in the following Fredericksburg restaurants March 12 – 14, 2014.
A “critical violation” is one that “poses a direct or immediate threat to the safety of the food being served.”  “In our experience, it is unrealistic to expect that a complex, full-service food operation can routinely avoid any violations,” officials said on the Virginia Department of Health’s website.

What could be more rewarding than spending a few hours planting trees?  Come plant trees with Tree Fredericksburg, learn new planting techniques and meet like-minded people in the community.
Volunteers are needed from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 5, and Saturday, April 26.
Meet at the corner of Caroline and Germania Streets, directly across from the entrance to Old Mill Park, 2410 Caroline St., Fredericksburg.  We usually finish by 11 a.m., and you can plant even for an hour with us -– every effort helps.
