A sunny, warm weekend is predicted for our area. Temperatures are expected to reach 80 on Saturday and the high 70’s on Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.
It’s great weather to be out and about. Following are six family-friendly events in Fredericksburg May 30 and 31.
Richard and Janet Dalby of Stafford won the top prize in the Virginia Lottery’s $4 Million Mega Multiplier Scratcher game.
The Virginia Lottery presented the Dalby’s their money on May 30. They had a choice of taking the full $4 million prize over 30 years, but chose the one-time cash option of $2,149,572.

Carol Sullivan is retiring. The owner of C.I.S. Sportswear at 806 Caroline St. in downtown Fredericksburg is closing her store.
The women’s specialty boutique features classic pieces to fun items like seasonal and novelty sweaters. Handbags, decorative belts and colorful jewelry — including Brighton accessories — define the shop.
Sullivan said she would sell the shop, but has had no offers. So, she’s hung a “Retirement Sale” banner and plans to close the C.I.S. door for good at the end of the day on July 31, 2014.

I was standing in line for Sunday brunch at Foode, when tourists engaged me in conversation. These travelers wanted to eat brunch and get on the road. They didn’t want to wait. Where else in town could they go, they wanted to know?
I knew of a few downtown restaurants serving lunch on Sunday … but brunch?
So I asked on Facebook.
I investigated your suggestions, many of which turned out to be restaurants serving breakfast or lunch, not brunch. But I did discover five locations in downtown Fredericksburg serving Sunday brunch.
