Free Native Trees at Earth Day, Saturday, April 20

Tree Fredericksburg, in partnership with Friends of the Rappahannock and We Plant Trees, is giving away 3,000 native free trees and shrubs (2-4 ft high) on Saturday, April 20, at the Earth Day Festival at Old Mill Park, 2201 Caroline Street, 22401. Trees will be given out from 11 AM until 4 PM or until the supply is gone. Reservations will not be taken. The event is on a first come/first serve basis. Maximum five trees or shrubs per family. Dogwoods will be limited to one per family until 2 PM and if there are any Dogwoods still available, we will distribute them on an equitable basis. The trees are available to anyone in the Fredericksburg region. You may come to the park, come to the Tree Fredericksburg booth, get a ticket reserving your trees, and then tour the Earth Day Festival. After touring the Festival, you can pick up your trees at the “Will Call” table in Old Mill Park by presenting your ticket before 3:30 PM.  The trees and shrubs available are: Black Cherry, White Dogwood, Paw Paw, American Persimmon, Redbud, River Birch, Willow Oak, Shumard Oak, Swamp White Oak, Elderberry Shrub, Ninebark Shrub, Spicebush Shrub. Tree Stewards will be on hand to teach proper tree planting and answer questions.
