What for 27 years has been known as the Fredericksburg Jaycees Christmas Parade will have a new name in 2014.
Fredericksburg Parks & Recreation is seeking sponsors — including a title sponsor — and volunteers for the 28th annual parade, scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 6.

Mirinda Reynolds’ second downtown Fredericksburg mural will be anchored with a date, like her first one.
“The Battle of Fredericksburg in 1862 was a pivotal moment in the Civil War,” Reynolds said. “More than 17,000 soldiers died right here, from the river up to Marye’s Heights. This mural is a way to honor them.”

The College Heights Neighborhood Walking Tour is at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16. It is sponsored by the HIstoric Fredericksburg Foundation (HFFI). Cost is $8 for HFFI members, $10 for non-members. Call 540-371-4504 for reservations.
“Fredericksburg Sketches: New Works by Casey Alan Shaw,” opens Tuesday, Nov. 4, and runs through Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014, at Art First Gallery in Fredericksburg.
“Rappahannock” will be shown in the University of Mary Washington’s Dodd Auditorium at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014. The free event is hosted by Friends of the Rappahannock. Dodd Auditorium is located in George Washington Hall on the main campus of UMW at 1301 College Ave.
