VDOT out treating roads this morning

by | Dec 11, 2023 | Traffic, Weather

From VDOT:

VDOT crews are treating state-maintained roads this morning for potential slick spots across the Fredericksburg area, with light snow falling along the Interstate 95 corridor.

I-95 and primary roads have wet pavement and are clear, but motorists may encounter patches of light snow coverage on lower-volume roads carrying light traffic, such as in residential areas. Lower-volume roads are in minor condition, especially west of I-95, and may have patches of light snow coverage.

VDOT crews mobilized at midnight along I-95 and at each of our Area Headquarters locations in the Fredericksburg area. Crews are patrolling for potential road hazards and are applying treatment materials where needed to reduce icing and improve motorist traction.

Limit travel if possible this morning. If driving, allow extra time, reduce speed, and add following distance between vehicles to increase reaction time. Use caution especially on bridges, ramps and overpasses, which freeze first.

Real-time road conditions are available on 511Virginia.
