by | May 5, 2025 | ALLFFP, Spotsylvania, Traffic, Transportation

The Virginia Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting next week to share information on an environmental assessment for the proposed Germanna Point Drive Extension project in Spotsylvania County.

The environmental assessment will assess potential alternatives for a future connection between Germanna Point Drive and Spotsylvania Avenue.

VDOT, in coordination with the Spotsylvania government, the Federal Highway Administration and other federal, state and local agencies in Virginia, has initiated the assessment to evaluate potential improvements to the transportation network in and around Germanna Point Drive and Spotsylvania Avenue.

The May 15 meeting will be held in an open-house format to provide flexibility for the public to review project information and discuss questions and comments with project representatives.

It will be held from 5–7 p.m. at Germanna Community College’s Workforce and Technology Center, 10000 Germanna Point Drive, Fredericksburg, VA 22408.

Meeting materials, including informational boards, a brochure and the opportunity to provide comments are available now.

The public is encouraged to provide input in one of several ways: complete a survey online, provide comments orally or in writing at the meeting, submit comments to [email protected], or send comments to VDOT Project Manager Jessica Graves, Virginia Department of Transportation, 87 Deacon Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22405

All comments received by May 27 will be included in the public record.

Proposed design plans are not yet available. Additional public meetings and opportunities to submit comments will be provided as the project advances. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2030.
