In Fredericksburg, the Otter-ly Amazing Project is a public art initiative where bronze otter sculptures have been installed throughout downtown.
The project, spearheaded by Fredericksburg Main Street, aims to connect the Rappahannock River and Riverfront Park with the downtown business district. The otters symbolize the healthy aquatic ecosystem and clean water in the river, thanks to organizations like Friends of the Rappahannock.
