UPDATE: A 64-year-old woman died Wednesday from injuries suffered in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 in Spotsylvania County.
Virginia State Police identified the victim as Andrea Vernot, a passenger in a Toyota Highlander struck after a Nissan Pathfinder hydroplaned near mile marker 120 around 8:54 a.m. Troopers initially believed a white pickup was involved, but later determined the Nissan hit a guardrail, spun out, collided with the Highlander, and was followed by a tractor-trailer striking the SUV.
Andrea Vernot and 61-year-old Mark Vernot were taken to a hospital with serious injuries, where she later died. State Police say the crash remains under investigation.
