There will be a public hearing on an application from Green Energy Ventures, LLC to construct a data center campus on approximately 342 acres located northwest of the intersection of Kings Highway and Bloomsbury Road. The applicant is seeking a special exception permit that also requests approval to allow buildings more than 50 feet in height.

Spotsylvania County

School board special meeting, Tuesday, 5:30 p.m. 

  • Special presentation of fiscal year 2027 budget and Capital Improvement Plan

This is year No. 2 of Superintendent Clint Mitchell’s plan to attack a nearly $47 million budget gap incrementally. The division received additional funding a year ago, and is hoping a non-adversarial approach with the board of supervisors yields more results this budget cycle. County and school officials have been engaged in constant conversations leading up to the budget season.

County staff will present a draft ordinance on short-term rentals and request the commission’s authorization to initiate the amendment and public hearings. The ordinance will define the operator of a short-term rental as the proprietor of any dwelling, lodging, or sleeping accommodations offered as a rental for fewer than 30 consecutive days. The ordinance will make it unlawful for any property owner to operate a short-term rental without a current, valid Short-Term Rental Permit.

Stafford County

Board of Supervisors meeting, Tuesday, 5 p.m.

The supervisors will again discuss potentially leasing county-owned land to the Patawomeck Tribe. The board voted in November not to renew a lease with the organization, which is featured in the Free Press investigative podcast “The Tribe.” The supervisors also will talk about giving incentive grants of $250,000 each to LongHorn Steakhouse and Olive Garden.
