Officials say earlier restrictions have had limited impact on reducing overall water demand, with heavy irrigation use in recent weeks placing additional strain on water storage, treatment, and distribution facilities.
Under the new restrictions, lawn watering and the use of automatic sprinkler systems are prohibited. Residents may still water gardens by hand or with a manual dripper system on designated days based on their address number.
Vehicle washing is limited to essential hand washing with a bucket, while cleaning paved surfaces is prohibited except for health, sanitation, or public safety needs.
New pools and spas cannot be filled, and existing pools may only be topped off with a bucket unless approval is granted for larger water use.
All non-essential and wasteful water use is prohibited until conditions improve.
Residents with questions or those seeking approval for pool filling can contact the Caroline County Department of Public Utilities at 804-633-4390.
