The crash happened around 12:33 p.m. on June 14 in the northbound lanes of I-95, just north of Quantico. According to investigators, a driver whose sedan had come to a stop in the left lane following a separate crash was standing outside the vehicle awaiting assistance when they were struck by a passing SUV.
Police say a gray SUV attempted to bypass the stopped sedan by driving along the shoulder, striking the pedestrian before continuing northbound without stopping.
The victim suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
